CADC Crown Seeds founded in 1994 had a humble beginning of propagating local seed potato at its production facility in Bopathalawa. Since then through many successful strategic planning, today Crown Seeds portfolio includes 16 crops, 35 varieties and has acquired more than 25% share of the low country vegetable seed market.

With the introduction of Hybrid seeds to Sri Lanka, Crown Seeds also started the importation of vegetable seeds from Nunhems in Netherlands and India as well.

The success of the company lies in its core principal to provide high quality local seed production through registered and well experienced 200 strong farmer network from Anuradhapura, Kandy and Matale. The forward contract system ensures that farmers are compensated well and quality products reach the company.

In order to ensure quality, the seed is assured by the Department of Agriculture through Seed certification services, the production itself is handled by experienced and well qualified trained staff and each step of the storage, and processing units assure the quality of seeds.

Some of the local seed range include Amaranthus, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal Chili, Capsicum, Cucumber Luffa, Marrow Long Beans, Pumpkin, Radish, Snake gourd, Tomato Winged bean to name a few.

CADC also imports and distributes high yielding hybrid seeds under world renowned brand of Bayer and Bejo with authorization from the Department Of Agriculture. This includes a range of Green Chilies, Okra, Cabbage, Brinjal, Bitter guard, Capsicum, Beet root, Carrot, Red Radish.
